2017 Dodge Challenger at Performance Dodge for Woodbury, NJ

Most powerful ever and practical usually don't go hand-in-hand when it comes to cars, but it certainly does in the case of the 2017 Dodge Challenger. With a spacious and comfortable cabin decked out with Dodge's technology, high-quality materials, and emphasis on design, the Challenger is remarkably inviting. Consider also the ample number of trims and sub-trims that allow significant customization of your Dodge Challenger. The engine options, too, help you to determine an achievable and realistic fuel economy for your incredibly peppy ride. With styling you simply can't find anywhere else and engines that can get you over 700 horsepower, the 2017 Dodge Challenger is a one-of-a-kind vehicle you can't pass up on. New this year are three T/A models, an active exhaust on all HEMI V8 engines, added SRT features, signature Houndstooth cloth seats are now standard on four trims, and four feisty new exterior paint colors.

Under the Challenger's Hood

The 2017 Dodge Challenger has four engine options. They are a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, 5.7-liter HEMI V8, 6.4-liter HEMI V8 powered by SRT, and a Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8. The capability of horsepower ranges from 305 in the SXT to 707 in the Hellcat; the torque ranges from 268  pound-feet to 650 pound-feet. There are also three transmissions paired with the engines; a six-speed manual Tremec goes with the 5.7- and 6.4-liter engines. Another six-speed manual Tremec transmission goes to the 6.2-liter Hellcat engine but has different gear ratios. In the SXT and SXT Plus with the 3.6-liter V6 is a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. As for driving in a Challenger, the braking is exquisite. As the models go up, the brakes are frequently swapped out for insanely short braking distances. Plenty of grip from the tires makes every Challenger a fun and speedy ride, even around corners. Each of the engines shifts quickly and smoothly as well.

Design of Dodge Challenger

There are 13 2017 Dodge Challenger models. They are: SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Shaker, T/A, R/T Plus, R/T Plus Shaker, T/A Plus, R/T Scat Pack, T/A 392, 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker, SRT 392, and SRT Hellcat. Each has two doors and five seats, making room for five passengers. The Challenger has stand-alone space within its cabin- no competitor comes close to offering as much room. The optional Uconnect touchscreen system provides ease and modern tech not usually offered by other muscle cars as well. The seating is impressively comfortable, as is the ride which is a rear trait of the class considering they're meant to drive best on a smooth track. Inside the cabin, the Challenger seems almost silent with impressive sound deadening. As for features, the base SXT comes with a six-speaker sound system, a 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen, Bluetooth, heated mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch wheels, and a power driver seat. By ordering the SXT Plus, you get larger 20-inch wheels, a rearview camera, a power-adjustable and heated steering wheel, foglights, heated and ventilated sport seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect, an Alpine sound system, improved brakes (like those found on the R/T), leather upholstery, and rear parking sensors. That's just in one step up- the rest of the trims are even more loaded.

The 2017 Dodge Challenger has over 70 available safety and security features, so it's no surprise that the Challenger has great safety test scores. In fact, 2017 marks the fifth year of the Dodge Challenger scoring an overall five-out-of-five star rating by the NHTSA. A lot of its success is attributed to a body structure that is nearly 60 percent high-strength steel, but the standard and available safety features also provide a secure ride most other muscle cars can't match.
